September 2019 Astrology Overview

We are being asked to get back to the basics this month as we start off with seven planets in earth signs. Our primary focus involves health, jobs, and daily routine as we begin September with strong Virgo energy. This Virgo energy began last month with the New Moon in Virgo which will influence our actions for the next few weeks. The new lunar cycle which is a rebirth cycle will be giving us an opportunity to look at our physical and mental well being as well as our daily responsibilities. Since the sign of Virgo is very analytical and perfection-oriented we may find ourselves being a bit more pessimistic with regards to jobs, current situations, daily routines, health and diet, and an overall view of imperfection. On the positive side it’s a great time to clean out the closets, straightening out our living quarters, and attend to the small details of life.

With the New Moon in Virgo influencing us until the September 12th, the Full Moon in Pisces on September 13th will be asking us to reap what we have sewn. This annual lunation is called a “Harvest Moon” Unlike other Full Moons, this one is specifically related to the Autumn season (Northern Hemisphere) or Spring (Southern Hemisphere) Equinoxes on September 22nd. The Full Moon that falls nearest to the Equinox earns this title, and was (and in some places, still is) a time where everything is illuminated in order to gather the harvest. The Full Moon sheds its brilliant light, making everything easy to see and gather. This Full Moon in Pisces sees a culmination of events over the last six months, since its partner, the New Moon, back in March 2019. We may now see the results of our efforts over that time, and similar themes may arise for us.

The Moon feels right at home in the water sign of Pisces. She loves
being in a water sign as it feels as if it has “come home”. We can all feel a sense of nourishing and tenderness over this sensitive Pisces Full Moon. Emotions may be quite big at this time, as water signs tend to already carry within them greater emotional attunement than any other elements, and it will be important for us to be with the feelings that come up in a gentle, compassionate and kind way. It’s equally important that we don’t react or allow our feelings to overwhelm us or try and run away, or numb our emotions. If we do, we will be obscuring the most powerful tool we have – our intuition. During this lunation we are being asked to find healing and balance as the Sun in Virgo offers practical solutions to bad habits that we may have been carrying for some time, and are now ready to release. All Full Moons offer the opportunity to let go – and here, the door is open.

We will seek more balance on September 14th as mental Mercury enters Libra and later in the evening Venus enters Libra as well. As Mercury moves through Libra, having to choose one alternative over another becomes very troublesome. The symbol for Libra is the scales which represents trying to find balance in all areas of life. While Mercury is in Libra we will all need to look at both sides of everything to be sure we are doing the right thing. If you don’t expect to come to any conclusions in a hurry, you will get along better with the energy of this air sign. We will be seeking greater beauty when Venus enters Libra. While Venus is in this sign that she rules, we’ll get to enjoy the true essence of elegance, refinement, and beauty.

Libra is associated with justice, fairness, and balance. Anything to do with the crudeness of confrontation is to be avoided at all costs. Libra is an air sign, so its energy is light and quick. When Venus, our goddess of love, is in Libra, she brings us a sense of peace and calm. She wants to make others happy and is more than willing to compromise, sometimes to her own detriment. It is easy to see the other person’s point of view while Venus is in Libra. It’s also easy to be beguiled by a smooth talker. So be fair and be kind, but don’t give away the farm.

Our need to achieve returns on September 18th when Saturn goes direct in Capricorn. Saturn went retrograde in Capricorn back in April 2019. During this period we have been looking for a sense of purpose, meaning in our lives, and discovering the efforts needed to attain our goals. Saturn is the Lord of Karma. Retrograde motion is a time when karma is sorted out. Therefore, Saturn retrograde is a double dose of karma. Karma is a form of energy that is very real. Like Saturn, it is very closely bound to time and effort. If you did not put in the hard work in the past to achieve your goals, then at a certain predestined time, an event will occur to teach you a lesson. If you did put in the effort, then at a predestined time, an event will occur to reward you for your good deeds. With Saturn in retrograde motion, the karma will relate to how responsible you have been in the past. Now that it’s moving direct did you recognize all the efforts that were needed to achieve your goals? Did you overcome the obstacles needed to learn the valuable lessons that were being taught? If so, Saturn direct brings a much brighter outlook, especially for making important decisions about your home, family and relationships. This could be a major positive transformation in your life.

Our imaginations are on overload on September 21st as Jupiter square Neptune for the last time this year. Jupiter in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces has been in effect for much of 2019. This will be the third time this year that these two planets are in this configuration. Even though the square is considered to be a bad aspect, there is much good that can be gained from it if you work with it properly. Jupiter is the ruler of traditional religion, philosophy and spiritual beliefs, and Neptune has a similar spiritual bent to it — but is a little more focused on the feeling than it is on the rules and regulations involved. When these two forces are in conflict, it is possible that (with wisdom), new insights can be had.

Jupiter square Neptune isn’t usually associated with “practicality” or “realism.” It may not be very practical to live in Fantasyland all the time, but spending a little more time there can help you dream up bigger and better solutions for regular everyday living. If nothing else, you can probably expect a major uptick in psychic phenomena, both with yourself and with others.

That’s the good news…the more challenging side of Jupiter square Neptune is believing too much of a good thing, over fantasizing about ideas, romance, money-making schemes, and unrealistic beliefs all fall under this transit, so pay attention.

Fairness and balance seems to return on September 23rd when the Sun highlights the graceful sign of Libra. The Sun enters Libra on the day of the autumnal equinox, when the Sun is half way around the zodiac and the days and nights are equal. There is as much of the journey left as has already been traveled. We can look as far into the past as we can into the future. Libra, sign of the scales is all about weighing and balancing everything to insure equality and fairness. During this month, our efforts are focused on creating and maintaining harmony – in our surroundings, in our relationships, in our words and deeds. To that end, we avoid confrontations, we look at both sides of every issue, and above all, the colors have to match!

Last but not least, partnerships off all kinds are highlighted on September 28th with the New Moon in Libra. This New Moon gives us the chance to establish stronger relationships with others (personally and professionally) by way of holding ourselves and others accountable, redefining our values, and adopting a healthier philosophy on partnerships. This lunation is all about finding ways to reestablish balance that has been lost. Finding a sense of balance allows us to deal with life’s issues smoothly, and helps us to discover the peaceful neutral point from which clarity, common sense, and cooperation come from.
